During September, I participated in the Junior European Cup in France (Ardèche). On the program, there was a sprint, a long and a relay. My main goal was to make a top 6 in the long distance race which took place in a steep terrain as well as the relay with my comrades Fabian Aebersold and Mattia Gründler.
Not very satisfied with my performance in the sprint where I finished in 15th place, I was ready for the next day’s long race. Everything went well until the 2nd intermediate passage where I was in the lead with 1 min ahead of my Swiss comrade Chamuel Zbinden. Unfortunately I made a big mistake at the 10th post which made me lose more than 3 minutes. I finally finished in a frustrating 4th place even though I had the gold in hand.
The 3rd day was the relay on the “Vesseaux” map, I gave the relay to Mattia in the leading group. Unfortunately, Fabian Aebersold placed on the last relay completely tore the card and was not able to read it anymore. We finally finished in 7th place.
Nice end of season for me and now I have one more year in the junior category where I will aim for a medal at the JWOC and JEC.
